AWSP invites you to join school leaders across the state for five one hour learning sessions. Our time together will be listening, learning and collaborating to lead for a culture of inclusion within our schools and communities.

Dan Habib is the creator of the award-winning documentary films Including Samuel, Who Cares About Kelsey?, Mr. Connolly Has ALS and many other films on disability-related topics. Habib is a filmmaker at the University of New Hampshire’s Institute on Disability. He has recently released his new documentary, Intelligent Lives, which examines our society’s narrow perceptions of intelligence. The Intelligent Lives project also contains four short films focusing on effective practices in transition for youth with disabilities from high school to higher education and employment. Habib received the Champion of Human and Civil Rights Award from the National Education Association, and the Justice for All Grassroots Award from the American Association of People with Disabilities. In 2014, Habib was appointed by President Barack Obama to the President’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities. Habib and his wife, Betsy, live in Concord, NH, with their sons Isaiah, 24, and Samuel, 20. |

Please bring your lunch and a readiness to be inspired, affirmed, reflective and challenged In your own thinking and beliefs and the actions you’re taking for inclusion. In subsequent sessions you will have the opportunity to jump back into the classroom through a mixed media approach and formats that include Dan’s films which masterfully show and tell the story of inclusion in action.
You will have the chance to have conversations with students and principals featured in the films as well as our Washington school leaders, students and families who have taken on this work. When you register for the series you’ll receive access to all the live webinars, videos, question guides and other supportive materials for inclusion that you can use with your staffs.
