He has served in education since 1989 as an elementary, middle and high school music teacher. He began his building leadership career in the fall of 2006 as the principal of Peter G. Schmidt Elementary in the Tumwater School District. After eleven years in the principalship, he served two years at the Central Office level overseeing multiple content areas and mentoring first year teachers. Kim Fry Kim brings 32 years of experience in education to WASA, most recently 12 years as superintendent of the Rochester School District. During the course of her career, Kim served as a first grade teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent. Kim started at WASA on July 1, 2022. Dr. Peter Dewitt Peter works as a lead advisor on long term professional learning partnerships with school districts, organizations and regional agencies. DeWitt's areas of expertise are instructional leadership, developing collective efficacy among leadership teams, and fostering inclusive school climates. Jenni Donohoo Jenni Donohoo is a five-time best-selling author and professional learning facilitator with more than 20 years’ experience in leading school change. Jenni works in school divisions across North America supporting high-quality professional learning designed to improve outcomes for all students. As the Director of the Jenni Donohoo Center for Collective Efficacy, Jenni has been recognized internationally as an educational thought leader and has delivered keynote speeches nationally and internationally. She has a PhD in Educational Studies and Supervisory Officer Qualifications and has taught in elementary, secondary, and post-secondary schools. Mike Nelson Prior to joining the WASA staff in 2020, Mike served 35 years as a public school educator serving as a teacher, principal, curriculum and instruction director, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. For the last 21 years, he has served in the Enumclaw School District where he was born and raised—with over 13 of those years as Superintendent. In 2019, he was selected as the Washington State Superintendent of the Year. Ashley Barker, Next Level Leaders- Project Lead Ashley joined AWSP in September 2022 as the Inclusion Project Director. She has served in education the past 20 plus years as a special education teacher, K-12 Principal in both rural, urban and international schools. In addition to her work at AWSP, Ashley is a mentor for new principals and provides administrative support to districts in the Spokane area.
